# Bone Pain or infection

A bone infection is extremely serious. If not treated as soon as possible or with the right medications, it can lead to an amputation or the loss of a limb.

#### Here are a few signs of a serious bone infection: <a href="#np5p5z7aybn0" id="np5p5z7aybn0"></a>

* Fever, chills, fatigue, or night sweats
* A new ulcer or wound that won’t heal
* Dull pain over the infected body part, often the foot, that doesn’t seem to be getting better
* Redness and swelling
