# Tuberculosis (TB)

Tuberculosis is a very contagious infection that usually affects the lungs. Although it can be deadly if untreated, it is completely curable with the right medications, so recognizing the signs of possible infection and seeing a doctor are very important.

* Cough that lasts for weeks or even months
* Coughing up blood
* Fever or night sweats
* Weight loss

#### When to see a doctor: <a href="#k44hh0gizyyg" id="k44hh0gizyyg"></a>

* Any cough lasting longer than 3 or 4 weeks that just isn’t getting better
* Coughing up blood
* Fever or weight loss over several weeks
