Stomach Pain or Abdominal Trauma

A direct hit to the stomach or abdomen can lead to internal bleeding or other complications.

Signs it might be serious - Call 911 right away if you notice any of these:

• Large bruises over the stomach - it is very difficult to bruise the skin over your stomach with a hit. It is more likely that the blood is coming from inside your abdomen, causing the bruise.

• Sudden, severe abdominal or stomach pain.

• Nausea or vomiting.

• Signs of shock - read the next section for more information.

• Unusually firm or hard stomach with severe pain when touched.

If a serious injury occurs, the best thing you can do for yourself or a friend is call 911 - never hesitate to ask for help! A life might depend on it.
